Awarded: The Bronze Star Medal with "V" Device
Date Action: 20 March 1968
Theater: Republic of Vietnam
Reason: For heroism in combat operations against a hostile force in the vicinity of Hue, Republic of Vietnam on 20 March 1968. Staff Sergeant Levin distinguished himself while serving as squad leader when, without regard for his own personal safety, he moved 50 meters under heavy enemy fire to a river where he and another soldier lifted a wounded man from the water so that he could be treated and evacuated. During the rescue efforts Staff Sergeant Levin's actions were in keeping with the highest standards of the military service and reflect great credit upon himself, his unit, and the United States Army.
