A FILM OF STONE
by Phill Coleman
The Los Angeles Times - 12-24-1989
I think veterans will applaud the accuracy, emotion and depth of director Oliver Stone's "Born on the Fourth of July".
I think the American public will respond with enthusiasm and support for its message.
I think the military and (Bush) Administration will grit their teeth; they wanted Vietnam, the reality of its mistakes, betrayals and hideousness, to be forgotten in the American mind.
Oliver Stone has forever erased any possibility of that.
